Your Makeup - Quality vs Quantity?

Creating the perfect makeup collection can be just as much of an art as applying your eye liner. Should you stock up on various types and colours of eye shadow, blush, and nail polish, just because they are on the cheaper side? Or is it wiser to focus on a few key higher-end basics, like foundation, mascara, and lip gloss, to make sure you're getting the best quality? Well, no matter how tight your budget, you can still build a fabulous assortment of makeup that you can rely on.
One safe approach is to single out two or three high quality makeup products to be at the top of your shopping list. For example, that high-end foundation that you would feel naked without such as YSL Radiant Touch, or the luxury brand of mascara that sets off your eyes like no other for a night on the town e.g. Dior Show Waterproof Mascara. These would take top priority for your collection. Then after you've procured those essentials, the rest of your makeup budget can go towards fleshing out your collection with more economical products. Think high street nail polish and eye shadows. They often look just as good as name brands, plus you can assemble a whole spectrum of colour possibilities on the cheap.
One benefit of stocking up on economical makeup is that it prolongs the shopping experience. You get all the fun of hunting for good deals and picking out just the right shades for your complexion. And, since these products don't eat up your budget as quickly you can treat yourself to these beauty buying adventures more often. Be sure to take into account which products are your day-to-day essentials. If a certain shade of lipstick or eye liner in your collection is always worn down to the nub, maybe it's worthwhile finding a similar, cheaper alternative that gives you the same look. That way you can replenish these items more regularly, but it won't cost you as much.
What it all boils down to is finding the right mix of quality and quantity that works within your budget and still takes into account your makeup essentials. That way you can rest assured that you have your go-to products, but you also get to treat yourself to a more cost effective beauty haul. A makeup collection that unites quality and quantity is a beautiful thing indeed.

Get Papped!
Always on the hunt for a really nice body lotion I recently stumbled upon this delicious body lotion from Tigi - Papayarazzi.
I say "delicious" because it does actually smell good enough to devour!....although for health & safety reasons I wouldn't recommend it. The cute peachy/pink colour is very girlie (that's why I like it). Whereas some body lotions are uber thick or greasy, the texture of this lotion is really light and easily absorbed into the skin leaving it feeling - and smelling - amazing!
Just as described on the back of the bottle, this body lotion will make you the centre of attention and for all the right reasons.

Review - Bliss Fat Girl Slim
I’ve always been a sceptic when it comes to anti cellulite products but when I was asked to review Bliss Fat Girl Slim I thought I’d give it a go. After all, my resolution to go to the gym 3 times a week in 2009 hit the dust long ago!
Well, I’ve been using Fat Girl Slim for three weeks now and I have to admit that I can definately see and feel the difference. My thighs are certainly much smoother than before and the less than attractive dimpling is beginning to look firmer. I actually look like I’ve been to the gym - and using Fat Girl Slim is certainly much less effort.
I’m a convert - I just wish I could have it delivered by the truck load!
Wouldn't it be fab if this was the end result!.....I can keep hoping.

Commandments of Cosmetics
If the God’s of makeup were to decree commandments, we are sure that these would be them……
Sentimentality should be filed away separately to your makeup. The Shelf life is there for a reason. Throw away your makeup after 3-6 months. This will ensure that you are using fresh products and your look will be up to date.
Apply makeup with brushes for a polished, groomed look
If your main objective in the morning is to look like Cameron Diaz then copy her makeup artist and use brushes to apply your makeup. Proper blending of cosmetics will help to achieve a flawless finish. Ensure that your brushes are cleaned regularly though.
Keep your Lip & Eye Pencils Sharp
A defined line will be achieved by a defined point.
Use the shades that suit
Want to follow the season's trends? Then start with the shade that is the closest match to your skin tone. If you get the foundation right the rest will follow.
Easy on the Bronzer
Sun kissed is far more attractive than tangoed. Lightly dust the skin with bronzer.
Create a unique feature
Focus on either the eyes or the lips and create a defined look that will catch others attention for the right reasons.
Regularly moisturise the lips
Avoid chapping and cracking by applying lip balm on a regular basis to keep your lips hydrated, soft and kissable in their natural state. Lip stick will last much longer on hydrated lips.
Use Lip Liner for well defined fuller looking lips
Applying lip pencil only takes a minute and gives a superior look. As we age our lips become less defined and it’s even more important to outline the lips with a lip liner.
Never Leave Makeup On Overnight
The essential element to a clear and blemish free complexion is the removal of makeup before going to bed. Panda eyes are unlikely to be a catwalk look.
Following these simple rules will help avoid makeup application pitfalls and make the perfect look so much easier to achieve.

Poor, neglected Feet!
With the sandal season fast approaching it feels like the right time to bring those feet out of hiding and pamper them ready for their 2009 debut appearance.
With some much needed help from Burt's Bees super Foot Care kit there will be no excuses for dry, chapped and cracked feet this summer! Exclamations of beauty and wonderment are sure to be heard when your feet are released into the public eye.
Starting with the pumice stone, give your feet a thorough exfoliating treatment after soaking them in a warm bath to soften the skin.
Towel dry your feet and lather them in Burt's Bees sumptuous Coconut foot creme before tucking them away into the
really cute bee socks supplied within the set.
The next step is the easiest - go to bed, and while you are sleeping the coconut creme will go to work softening your skin and making your feet look amazing!

Benefit Boi-ing

"Industrial Strength Concealer" is a pretty accurate description from Benefit. Speaking from experience it's not always easy to cover up those pesky blemishes, but this concealer gives it a good go. It stays put all day and covers really well without having to trowel on layer after layer.
The compact mirror is also really handy for if you do require any little touch ups throughout the day, say if you were heading out straight from work and needed a little cosmetic refreshment prior to the liquid refreshment.
All in all this should be a cosmetics bag staple.
