Your Makeup - Quality vs Quantity?

Creating the perfect makeup collection can be just as much of an art as applying your eye liner. Should you stock up on various types and colours of eye shadow, blush, and nail polish, just because they are on the cheaper side? Or is it wiser to focus on a few key higher-end basics, like foundation, mascara, and lip gloss, to make sure you're getting the best quality? Well, no matter how tight your budget, you can still build a fabulous assortment of makeup that you can rely on.

One safe approach is to single out two or three high quality makeup products to be at the top of your shopping list. For example, that high-end foundation that you would feel naked without such as YSL Radiant Touch, or the luxury brand of mascara that sets off your eyes like no other for a night on the town e.g. Dior Show Waterproof Mascara. These would take top priority for your collection. Then after you've procured those essentials, the rest of your makeup budget can go towards fleshing out your collection with more economical products. Think high street nail polish and eye shadows. They often look just as good as name brands, plus you can assemble a whole spectrum of colour possibilities on the cheap.

One benefit of stocking up on economical makeup is that it prolongs the shopping experience. You get all the fun of hunting for good deals and picking out just the right shades for your complexion. And, since these products don't eat up your budget as quickly you can treat yourself to these beauty buying adventures more often. Be sure to take into account which products are your day-to-day essentials. If a certain shade of lipstick or eye liner in your collection is always worn down to the nub, maybe it's worthwhile finding a similar, cheaper alternative that gives you the same look. That way you can replenish these items more regularly, but it won't cost you as much.

What it all boils down to is finding the right mix of quality and quantity that works within your budget and still takes into account your makeup essentials. That way you can rest assured that you have your go-to products, but you also get to treat yourself to a more cost effective beauty haul. A makeup collection that unites quality and quantity is a beautiful thing indeed.
